Sorry to hear this sad news today. I can't say I really followed his show often, but I was aware of his work. The news said he had a heart attack. Seems like we are losing so many celebrities that are in their 60s lately.
Garry was always a very niche comedian. If you didn't have Showtime or HBO.. You never really saw his best work. Hell, you didn't see MOST of his work.
Some of us remember him from late night in the 80's.. But, he had 2 shows on pay TV and really nothing in the past 15 years.
But, for those of us who do remember him.. He was something special.
Seriously, I don't think I'd heard that name in almost 20 years. He just fell off the map after the mid-1990s...
He didn't do much on screen after Larry Sanders show. He was in Iron Man 2 and Captain America the Winter Soldier and a regular talk show guest. But regardless, even if he did nothing after Larry Sanders, he still had a great 25 year career at that point with two of the greatest TV series ever made, a writer on Sanford and Son and Welcome Back Kotter, regular guest host on the Tonight Show and a long career and great career as a stand up and what they call "a comedian's comedian". He is definitely considered a legend in the comedy world

Oh, I Love This!! I think that show was his best -- I watched it religiously. Remember, he'd always look right into the camera and talk, move in and out of the frame, and when a special guest "came to the door" of his apartment, he'd turn around and say, "Hey, look everybody! It's ____!" I remember when Gilda was on and everyone cheered for her, then he got that hangdog expression like, "What about me?" HA!
I just hope he didn't suffer too long. He was so brilliantly self-deprecating and silly. I felt so sad when I heard this that I haven't been able to write about it until now. I really adored him -- and yeah, Garry, your hair was always great!
