Honestly, although I was pretty horrified at the "beginning" of this (which obviously wasn't the beginning of the interview), from the repeated times this interviewer used the words "older" and "old," "YOUR generation that's MUCH OLDER," and health problems, as well as mentioning "because you're 90" like a bajillion times, like a dog with a bone, I don't blame Lewis for clamming up and getting uncomfortable about it. I wonder how much badgering on the "old" and condescension thing this interviewer did before Lewis turned things this way.
I'm not a fan, BTW. I always hated Lewis-style humor. Always will. Bleah. But...this was my take.

JMO.
I was thinking the same thing, but, to be fair, the premise WAS 90-somethings who are still working.

Lewis is a curmudgeon, but the interviewer did seem to over-emphasize the past--which doesn't have to be the focus when the subject matter is ostensibly "working in one's 90s."
That said, I fondly remember my mom and dad packing us into the car--in our pajamas--to see a Martin & Lewis movie at the drive-in.
