That is sad to learn. Nancy was loyal to her ex Frank Sinatra till the day he died. She was always there for him when he needed good honest advice. Nobody understood Frank better, and what made him tick, than Nancy.
He in turn looked after her always, making sure she never had anything to worry or concern her. All his wives after Nancy understood not to come between her and Frank. She had a special place in his heart always.
Yes he did. Ava cast a spell on Frank, and he couldn't live without her. He loved Nancy, but his real passion was for Ava Gardner. It burned hot, and never really was extinguished.
She must have been an amazing woman. I have seen streets named after Ava, in two different locations in Spain, and a statue to her in Tossa de Mar.
But, he was always loyal in his way, to Nancy, the mother of his children. She returned that loyalty all her life.
I have seen a photo of Frank hugging Nancy in his old age. She was always there in the background, and Ava, Mia, and Barbara, all knew to speak of her with respect.

I don't know if Sinatra had this song written specifically for his wife but it wouldn't surprise me.
Nancy
If I don't see her each day, I miss her
Gee, what a thrill each time I kiss her
Believe me, I've got a case
On Nancy with the laughin' face
She takes the winter and she makes it summer
And summer could take a few lessons from her
Picture a tomboy in lace
That's Nancy with the laughin' face
Did you ever heard mission bells ringin'?
Well, she'll give you the very same glow
When she speaks you would think it was singin'
Just hear her say hello
I swear to goodness you can't resist her
Sorry for you, she has no sister
No angel could replace
Nancy with the laughin' face

Songwriters: Jimmy Van Heusen / Phil Silvers
Explains a lot about his life-long devotion.
R.I.P.
This lovely song was written for young Nancy, not her mother. But I guess it's fitting for both of them.

Thanks for the info. For some reason it had stuck in my memory as 'Nancy with the laughing eyes', probably because laughing eyes are like flame to a moth to me.
