When I was a teenager in the late 60s my crush was Raquel Welch. I thought she was
just gorgeous. Posters of her all over my wall! Later on, in the 70s I turned to Bette Midler.
I bought her first LP because I liked the cover - still got it. When she came to England in
about 1978, to perform at the London Palladium, I hot footed it to London to see her
perform. All my friends thought I was crazy because no one except me had heard of her.
This was just before the release of her first film. I had never seen her in the flesh at all, she
had never been on English TV. I heard her voice talking on a live performance LP I had, that's all. She was just great, give a show I've never forgotten. I waited outside the stage
door after the show, with a few others. She came out and talked for ages with us. She was
in her early 30s then, very petite about 5 feet, and really attractive, I was'nt disapointed, and still am a fan to this day.

I loved Bette when I was a teen !!!

I'm a woman and very straight, but even so I still had a huge woman-crush on her lol

But it was more that I wanted to be her. Especially after seeing the Rose.

Yeah, she was a great performer, probably the best live act I ever saw. She was on at
the Palladium for a week or so. I saw her a few different nights, and she always changed
the show somewhat. One night, people in the circle (I think Americans call it the Mezzazine
or something) held up a sign saying we love your t**ts!! She laughed, and pulled down the
front of her stage costume revealing her top kit. She then walked up and down the stage
for about a minute topless!! It was so funny. I saw her in Las Vegas a couple of years ago,
much more restrained these days.

I'm giving my age away here - Raquel Welch. I saw her in 1 Million Years BC when I was
13. I was smitten. I thought she was the most beautiful woman I'd ever seen. Although
I had a soft spot for Sophia Loren! There are pictures of me when in the army in the 70s
in my room. The wall behind me is full of big posters of Raquel. I haven't seen any pictures
of her for many years, but her beauty lives on in my memory.
