Veteran actor dennis hopper is ailing with prostate cancer. Its very doubtful he survives the rest of 2010. I liked him best in the classic movies easy rider & blue velvet. He is currently going through a divorce with his wife of 14 yrs. Dennis is 73.

Divorce attorney says Dennis Hopper is dying (http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/n/a/2010/03/24/entertainment/e171416D23.DTL - broken link)

What a grim way to spend your final weeks or months.

Interesting guy. Loved him in Hoosiers.
Many years ago when he was very young he was in this black and white art-house movie called Night Tide, about a sailor who finds a mermaid (well, sort of).
But I think maybe his first performance was with James Dean in Rebel Without a Cause--not sure though.

It is a shame that the man is fighting to his life and a bitter divorce at the same time. His wife must have really done something bad to have this man want to go file and go through the divorce considering his health.

Ok, just saw the video of him accepting his star on the walk of fame. His wife should just grant him the divorce but at this point it is all about money. She wants his estate, so she will drag the proceedings out until he dies which I think unfortunately will be very soon.

"Don't bogart that joint, my friend . . . " Loved him in "Easy Rider."

Actually, I've liked him in just about everything, even "Blue Velvet" (a sicko movie) and "Waterworld". He's a master at playing abnormal characters.

I remember when he married Michelle Phillips and they split up before the magazines even hit the rack. I thought that was unfortunate ~ they seemed like a good match.

He was a very fine actor and was especially good with characters. I hope he can hang on a few more years.

My thoughts are that he filed for divorce from her. Heaven only knows why. They obviously have a small child together. She would get his money anyway as "custodian" of her daughter's estate so what is the big deal. Why is he being so vindictive towards her? What did she do anyway?

I wasn't much impressed with the guy, but I certainly wish him no ill will and hate to see anyone suffer.

She wouldn't be entitled to the money. I'm sure he has appointed someone to manage his estate. If he dies and still is married the wife automatically inherits everything. If he is divorced his daughter would be his air and the estate's manager would oversea everything. Anyways, his wife must have slept with one of his friends or something.
