I was browsing on ebay for a computer part and came across the following: New Cricket E397 Huawei Boltz 4G LTE Mobile Broadband Modem. I have Cricket cell phone service. What will this mobile modem do for me? The posting on eBay did not explain, at least I didn't see it. Anyone know?

It basically provides the PC with wireless Internet access via a cell phone carrier. (Not WiFi)

Similar to setting a smartphone to be a hotspot, but you don't need a smartphone.

I wonder if I should speak to Cricket because evidently not all the mobile modems have access to AT&T which I think (not sure) Cricket uses. It sounds interesting, though.

Simply, a mobile broadband modem is a hardware piece that you can insert your Sim card and it allows you to connect your Laptop or PC to the internet after connecting it to the Laptop or PC. Actually, the mobile broadband service is not limited to the modem. Some laptops come with in-built hardware to provide the service and also there are some devices name pocket router to share the same internet service among several smartphones or PC.
