The data breach reportedly includes social security numbers, phone numbers, names, physical addresses, unique IMEI numbers, and driver's license information.

The alleged sleuth is requesting six bitcoin - or roughly $260,000 - in exchange for a subset of the data which contains 30 million social security numbers and driver's licenses, VICE reports.

Yeah, I just signed up with them but had a bad feeling about sharing my data. Dammit, I was right too.

The T-Mobile Data Breach Is One You Can’t Ignore

Somebody needs to burn for this. Companies must pay a high price for data leaks. They are too cavalier about collecting your info.

FYI: This only impacts those on T-Mobile's billing system. Those still on Sprint's billing system are safe (for now).

More info for those affected:

Quote:
The names, Social Security numbers and information from driver’s licenses or other identification of just over 40 million former and prospective customers that applied for T-Mobile credit were exposed in a recent data breach, the company said Wednesday.

The same data for about 7.8 million current T-Mobile postpaid customers appears to be compromised. No phone numbers, account numbers, PINs, passwords, or financial information from the nearly 50 million records and accounts were compromised, it said.

T-Mobile also confirmed that approximately 850,000 active T-Mobile prepaid customer names, phone numbers and account PINs were exposed. The company said that it proactively reset all of the PINs on those accounts. No Metro by T-Mobile, former Sprint prepaid, or Boost customers had their names or PINs exposed.

Just now got text msg with new PIN for my Prepaid account. Have had account for 14 years and have never had to use PIN#. Password yes, PIN no. Also have never given T-M my SSN or D/L #, and they're not in my profile.
