Yesterday my phone was suddenly in Airplane Mode, meaning that certain functions weren't available until I turned Airplane Mode off.
My question is -- why was it suddenly in Airplane Mode? I hadn't set that.
Thanks
I forget whether you have an android or an iPhone.
Perhaps you accidentally turned on airplane mode ?
Sometimes phones (android, IME) just have quirks.
I have 6 cell phones.
I only have two, manufacturer/factory unlocked, that I use as phones, each with a different number (a 2020 iPhone SE, and a 2020 LG G8x Thin Q Dual Screen.
I have two old, cheap ($19 and $69 new) locked to AT&T ZTE Blade Sparks that I used to use as phones, but now only use as cameras and sometimes with wi-fi
I also have two locked to the carrier Straight Talk phones that I got for $99 new (each) never intending to use aither as phones, but rather (use re) music, drawing, other media consumption, as cameras, alarms, etc......a first generation iPhone SE that I got new in 2016 or 2017, and an LG Sylo 5 that I got earlier this year that I will continue to build my Apple Music library on (my LG G8x has 500GB of Apple Music downloads filling up the microSD card)
The LG Stylo 5 sometimes generates a phone busy signal (without my, that I can see, having done anything) unless I keep it in airplane mode all the time. And this phone has never has a sim card in it (phones have without sim card emergency ability...but I can't see that I would be triggering that).
You could have accidentally put in airplane mode. On a phone that isn’t locked your fingers can accidental hit the screen without realizing it. When that happens, you miGot not realize it. There’s “butt dialing” accidents when you put one in a back pocket and sit on it and it dials some number. You could have “butt planed” it.
I hadn't been in the settings app, and for the record, I have an android (Pixel 4XL)
I have the same phone. When I swipe down on the home screen, the airplane mode icon is right at the top, one icon over from the right side of the screen. I think I've accidently turned this setting on once a few weeks ago. Maybe you did the same?

Interestingly, I just checked. The only way on mine you get to airplane mode is by actually going into settings.

Ah well. Life will go on.
On my Android phone (Samsung S21 5G), if I slide the top edge downward the Airplane mode setting will show up. I do not have to go into my phone settings. I can place my phone on mute, turn Bluetooth on/off, Wifi on/off and few other options. I am running Android 11 and I imagine it works exactly the same on your phone. I agree it was likely an accident but I am glad that it seems to be working for you.
