Moto play 5. I would like to change from the typical layout of a cell phone keyboard to a qwerty keyboard.

I found instructions online, but they don't work. Is there an app that I can use?

I don't have a specific application in mind, but try doing a search in the Play Store application for "Keyboard Layout". I found several applications that might help. Take a look and ask further questions about specific apps that you like the look of. Best wishes.

Checked some apps, they all have bad reviews. They say they are ad bloated.

I don't know what you mean "typical layout" - my smartphone all text entry is from a simulated QWERTY board. Are you sure you're in the appropriate text entry mode?

Many smartphones use a different layout than a qwerty like a computer uses.

I use Microsoft Swiftkey and have not had problems with it. You can chose many different keyboard layouts, colors and sizes. I have a Google Pixel 7 Pro and it's the app I've used for about 10 years now.

There's gotta be a control down in "settings" somewhere that allows you to select keyboard layout, just like you select language, date format, etc. Dig harder.

There is, I followed it step by step and it did not work. I am going to try the phone store next.

I like classic keyboard.

https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...hl=en_US&gl=US

Go to settings and search for 'keyboard'. Should take you to the right place or try the following..

On my phone which is Android 12, yours may be similar, it's Settings, Language & Input, On-Screen keyboard, Manage on-screen keyboards.

I followed those steps and it did not work. Finally took it to Cricket and they fixed the qwerty part. They still could not get the keyboard to enlarge as much as my wife's identical phone.
