When my parents moved from NY to FL, my Dad did a lot of complaining about his water bill.

Can anyone give me an idea how water usage is billed in the Summerville area and what it might run for a couple with a 3 BR, 2 bath home with in ground sprinklers and a pool?

Firs of all, it will depend on where you are located in "Summerville". Some areas include sewer charges and are under the City of North Charleston jurisdiction. I would call the utility company and ask them. I believe that would be your best bet.

I get my water from Sumerville Public Works and there is a basic sewer charge of $24 and a basic water charge of $20 for the first so many gallons of water. (something like 1000 gallons). Can't remember off the top of my head. My last bill was for $45.40.

Did they? I didn't see it if they did.

(I see my fellow opinionated Libertarian in SC is just as ornery and impatient as those of us in NY)

Do they bill it monthly? Or every 6 months?

Thanks Tom. That's a lot higher than in NY - I don't have a pool here, but I only pay about $70 for 6 months!

Oh, ok. I'm used to septic tanks - we call em cesspools up here. Wells can be a pain, especially if you lose power and don't have a generator. Are there some areas with septic tanks but public water? How about out towards Ridgeville and Givhans? What do they have?
