The best surf spot around is the Washout at Folly Beach, and it's not even a great spot.

That Washout area/FB is reported to be the favorite with local surfers, particularly when a storm is upcoming... or at high tide....drive out there and check it out. I have seen some catch a good wave...just not a west coast wave.

Folly Beach down near the Washout....decent waves just before or during high winds or storms (of course, more dangerous then too!). It's not CA, HI, or Australia, but for SC it's as good as it gets.

East coast does not have west coast waves -- it just doesn't....but I guess the east coast has warmer water around these parts. Surfing is good enough for my son who just started -- but let's just say he's hoping for a west coast adventure some day very soon.
