Is Charleston more of a family town? Is there much to do for young singles (late 20's)? What is the job situation out that way?

Well I'm a relatively old codger (my daughter's 30) but I think the young singles scene is pretty vibrant here. As for Jobs, it's probably better than most places but it depends on what your field is.

Personally, I think the jobs you get here rely on networking. That could be my opinion though.

As for singles, you would fit in here. I'm in my mid-20s and love it. Charleston is a very young town, and you see that in the nightlife. But the singles I come across are very professional (meaning I don't run into most that are sorority/frat types). But I am out of college and past that stage, so that may not be totally accurate with how downtown can be.

From what I hear the singles scene here is decent for a small city but terrible compared to ATL, DC etc if you come from one of those metros.

If you are a single yuppie hit up happy hour @ Fish on Upper King its always slammed.

Depends what you're into, and it depends on what you do for work...
