P&C is reporting that work will begin on the 55' bridge over the Wando on 41. I'm personally happy. I still don't understand what the big deal is on the bridge height.

Many of the residents did not want a high bridge there. From what I understand, it had to do with the extra amount of land, construction, etc that a high bridge would cause. I'm rather whatever about the whole thing personally.

I know the current bridge is to low during high tide. The area is going to be developed whether a 55' bridge is there or a 35' bridge. I don't see how the size of boats using that area of the river really matters.. I fail to see the impact. Even if a little more land is needed for the 55' bridge I don't see it being that much more.

I just hope they make it wide enough for 4 lanes with room for a pedestrian/bike area to support growth on 41 and Clements.

Considering the traffic on this road... I don't think a stop sign at 41 and Clements is the best choice.
