I was so happy when we finally got a Belk store. We used to have to drive to Charleston if we needed anything from a dept. store, i.e. Estee Lauder or other name brand items. It's a smaller Belk store but it's better than nothing.
I wish we had more nice places to eat. It would be great to have a nice seafood restaurant. I do like Gilligans but would like to have other seafood restaurants here too.
What made me start this thread is that I was looking for a good shoe place where they fit you for athletic shoes. No place like that in Summerville.
Summerville population is growing it seems, but the town area seems stagnant as far as growth and expanding businesses.
What type places do you think would do well if they came to the Summerville area?
The one on Dorchester by Wescott is opening in January.
Great. I was unaware of one being built there. I will definitely be paying a visit in January but it's too far to go regularly. I only knew of the one in Summerville where they tore down that Piggly Wiggly on Bacons Bridge.
I love the one in St. Andrews shopping center. I could spend so much time in there just looking at all the different items they sell.
So true about a book store. I agree. You would think the area would have one.
How about something like a Michaels Craft store or Garden Ridge? I don't think there is a place in Summerville to get craft items.
I used to like Main Street Sampler when it was uptown. Wish we had a nice nursery or place like Country Boys where they sells tons of different seasonal flowers and inside you could buy gifts, arrangements, garden items, dirt, mulch, planters, etc. Lowes and Home Depot are nice but it would be nice to have a place that specialized in just flowers, gifts, etc.
I would love a Bass Pro Shop or Cabelas. I find Dick's Sports to be a bit expensive. Wish we had an Academy of Sports here.
It would also be nice to not have to drive 20 miles to get to a Sams Wholesale or a Costco.
Heck put a Olive Garden, Carrabas, Cheesecake Factory or similar type place nearer to here. So glad the Cracker Barrel finally came and it's always crowded.
What about a bike store near the Saw Branch trail. You could buy bikes, rent bikes and get supplies for bikes.

Joanne's Fabrics is awesome! If you haven't been in, you should try. I didn't realize they carried so many craft supplies. Very similar, if not better, than Michaels.

OMG, where did that store come from? lol I just recently moved back here so I hadn't heard or seen that place. According to their website, it looks like a nice place. Is it located in the same shopping center w/Wal-Mart and Lowes?
Yes, it's in the same shopping center with Walmart and Lowes. It opened, I think, in June.
