Thinking of moving.... (Charleston: rent, job market, schools)

Hello all!

I'm a single woman looking to move to the Charleston area. I've worked mainly in bar and restaurant environments. I have done research online about the area, but I also like asking questions of the people that live in the area. Is Charleston a decent place? I'm from LI, NY. I'm looking for something that's a bit slower pace than LI but also still by the beach. Rent looks pretty decent. How is the job market? Also, how are the schools? I'm planning to go back to college to become a nutritionalist. This will be my first big move so I'm a bit anxious. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

charleston is awesome. no idea about education for you area. but there's a ton of jobs in Food and Bev. now, when you say rent looks good, factor in that pay is almost certainly lower here. but go ahead and move!
