Hello! My family (husband, myself and 2 boys ages 9 & 8) and my parents are visiting Mount Pleasant/Charleston this weekend for a couple days. We are moving down to Mount Pleasant from Baltimore in the summer and are taking my parents down to show them the area and give them a little tour so they can understand why we love the area so much ;-)

Anyway, my 8 year old son would really like to try frog legs and I'm curious if there are any recommendations out there for a decent family friendly restaurant that you know of that serves them. Thanks in advance for any responses.

FYI it's Restaurant Week here so if you do find a restaurant make reservations ASAP. It's possible prime dining times are already taken.

Tell him they taste like chicken, which is how they taste. Find a place with Gator on the menu. It also taste like chicken.

Thanks for your input! So, frog legs may not be attainable this trip... Oh well! They have already tried gator and liked that. And thanks for the tip, PAinSC. We asked our realtor for recommendations of kid friendly restaurants and got a reservation for Amen Street Fish & Raw Bar for Sunday evening. Thanks!

Not sure what you're eating, but frog legs most certainly do taste like chicken. Gator tail however...not good.

Perhaps you can interest him in snails instead of frogs: 39 Rue de Jean | Holy City Hospitality | Inventive, Fresh Cooking. Thoughtful, Gracious Service. Lowcountry Sensibility.

They don't taste like chicken.

Most snake tastes like chicken. Cat is stringy and tastes more on the dark meat chicken side. Horse meat tastes like sweet beef. Kind of like buffalo/bison does. Dog is usually marinated and brazier cooked so it is usually crispy and tastes like the marinade used. Escargot more tastes like the butter and garlic they are in versus the actual snail taste.

I have a rule. If I go somewhere and there is something on the menu I have never eaten, I order it. Braised pig tails are awesome.

Trying to define the taste of Rocky Mountain Oysters but I had been drinking. Same as when I first ate Baloots. Some stuff it helps to have been drinking before you eat it........LOL

There was a restaurant in Chicago that specialized in exotic meats. They had lion, tiger, zebra, kangaroo, etc. on the menu. I think lion was recently banned in Chicago.
