Moving next week to Mount Pleasant, very excited, but of course the packing is not fun.
So the 2 people that I am sure to miss is my hairdresser, and my cleaning lady. Any referrals?
Also need a kennel for my very old, very confused Portuguese Water Dog, unfortunately have to leave her for a few days.
Thank you!

For kennels, Google Hound Hosters. It's a local company that places dogs with a host family in a Charleston suburb of your choice. This place exists so your pet feels more comfortable. I have used them twice and using them again in June. All families go through background checks and are first aid certified. It may be pricier than a kennel, but I don't feel comfortable leaving my pup in one. Plus they usually have yards for your dog to play in and also pets of their own.

I checked out the web site, great idea, thank you!

Favorite hairdresser? I have had to book my hairdresser 2 months in advance, so for the last 15 years I've always made sure I had an appointment for the next 2 months! She was also very reasonable, $ 75 for cut and color.

And cleaning lady? Again I've had one great woman for a while, charged $ 20 hr, came every 2 weeks for 3 hours, cleaned everything including wood floors, and moved beds for vacuuming!

I haven't used a cleaning service but I did have a good experience at Salon Salon of Charleston and they didn't charge me an arm and leg like most places here. Ask for Rachel. I forget how much I paid (I only have been to them once), but their pricing is very reasonable. This salon is located in Mount Pleasant too.

I really like Mark at M Salon in the Bi-Lo plaza on Shelmore in Mount Pleasant. He charges $65 for a cut and highlight. He is one of the owners and I have heard the other owner is very good also. There are a lot of hairdressers around here that charge too much money. I was shocked at the prices when I first moved here. It took me 2 years to find someone I really like and that is reasonable.

Alexandria's Salon & Spa

Even the junior stylists have talent.

Not for my salon. I got in the next day. You can see on Google reviews they are rated well. Also, here's their website with pricing info:

SalonSalon of Charleston

It appears to be more than what you're used to paying, but many GOOD salons here will charge well over $125 for a cut and color.

Prices are ok, so surprising that where I live is not more $ (Hamptons, N.Y.), I guess I found the hidden gems.
