i always like hominy grill, but i would never go on a weekend.
i tend to think of charleston as more of a brunch town than a breakfast town. Toast is open early and isn't anything special. Virginia's on king is okay, but last time i went some people in our party weren't that happy.
jack's near the college is cheap greasy spoon. nothing special, but it's a go-to for cheap and good for what it is.
i've have friends who love queen street grocery and go regularly, but i can't say.
weekend brunch: i really want to try the grocery--i've heard really good things.
and i'm a big fan of Santis where i get Huevos Rancheros, but mexican isn't everyone's idea of what breakfast ought to be! but i love it. pretty sure they aren't open until 11.
Lol breakfast or brunch. I tend to think of Chas as more of a brunch town too. Whenever we go, we always try to go visit a new restaurant.
I think the only brunch I've had downtown was Magnolias and I liked it.
yeah same difference to me, but i wasn't sure if you were trying to find a place definitely open early. we struggled with finding early breakfast spots when we moved here. we had a newborn and were always up at 6:30 or 7 and wondering what to do with ourselves on a Sat. or Sunday. so for us breakfast vs. brunch was a huge distinction!
High Cotton is worth checking out on Sundays for a Jazz brunch. I think it starts at 10 AM? Food was good, but the atmosphere is the reason I would suggest it. this would be a good pace to take out of town guests too IMO.
We had brunch at Halls for the first time yesterday and it was delicious. But that isn't a surprise. It was surprisingly inexpensive for the quality of food and service.
