This is unreal for normal / average people. This is only the richest people that live downtown. Please , this has nothing to do with the average people and poor all around Charleston. This is a joke of a post. Please, get real.

Nothing wrong with being rich and living downtown. They have their lists and desires too.

Being listed second doesn't mean ranked #2...

Yes, but it does not relate to Charleston. They are 5% or less of Charleston. It mispresents Charleston to others , just for non honest realtors trying to show something. Most of Charleston is not downtown, and on the battery, and there are plenty of people that are poor living downtown too.

I equate it more like, if you want to show off some status, buying a house in one of these areas could be something to show that status off...

Disagree 100%... Cheapest (habitable/livable) 3 Bedroom house downtown (South of Huger St) still has a median value greater than most of the Charleston metro and the state. (29403/29401 zip codes)

Rent is also 200%+ greater in 29401. In 29403 (north of Crosstown area), rent is still expensive compared to most of Charleston metro.

There are small populations of lower income housing throughout, yes (Less than 2000 people).

Combined -> roughly 30K people live in (29403/south of Huger + all of 29401). So if the population of Charleston SC is 125K

About 24-25% is pretty darn wealthy my friend

The NY Post is one of the least respected newspapers in the country, and certainly in NY. I'm surprised they didn't mention the Kardashian's in their article. Nothing against Charleston, it's one of the most beautiful, cultured cities in the country with much to offer, but no one is going to put much stock in anything reported in The Post.

A market is a market. This is the high end market and there's nothing wrong with that. I have no issue with being on a list of places wealthy people want to buy into. It reflects Charleston as being considered among the elite places. I think it's great.
