The problem is, people tend to glamorize and white wash the "good ole days". I've seen some pictures, and talked to some older folks who have lived here for all of their lives about what Charleston was like in the 50's-80's, and I absolutely would not be living here if it was still the same. The city, and the area as a whole, has made a ton of positive progress that is benefiting everyone.
This is so true. While there is a lot of change that I've been sorry to see over the last 30 years, there has also been a lot that has been for the better as well!
Honestly, I'd like for a lot more hotels to be put up. Drives a night's stay pricetag down.
I think there are 5 hotels either under construction or planned for downtown at this point . That should take some pressure off pricing for a while anyway....

Not just downtown Mt. Pleasant as well. The hotel right off I-526 looks like it's almost complete and the hotel that is replacing the Masters Inn on 17 right off the bridge is coming along nicely.
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. That means Charleston is going to be inundated by those Northern dog transplants with their northern dog policies and life styles. This place is going down fast.
All kidding aside, we're very big dog people, and love seeing the "dog culture" that is alive and well in the area.
