Future retiree looking for waterfront property inland near Summerville/Lake Marion area for between 150 to 200K . Is this a realistic $$ figure for this area of South Carolina. Originally from Midwest and retireing 5 - 7 years from now.
Also would this amount of cash get me near the beachfront along the coast?
Would be nice to have 1/2 acre to an acre, and not be right on top of my neighbors either- along with some waterfront/lake front property. Thank you.

Beachfront on the cost you'r looking a millions easy, at least in the Charleston area where that means one of the islands.
Waterfront on Lake Marion presents some funky choices ranging from $100K mobile homes/fishing shacks and up. Typically a lakefront lot will sell for about $100K. A fairly new, stick built home will begin at about $200K. A large home will be in the $300K range.
I find it interesting that they always mention the alligators in Lake Moultrie.....but never a mention of gators in Lake Marion. Are the gators that selective ?? Is there a physical barrier to keep them from swimming upstream ??

Umm, anything from small ponds to large Rivers you'll find alligators in South Carolina.
