From the houses I have seen and even from pretty good aerial pics I notice few lanais on James Island? What's up with that - is there a reason for it? An ordinance or just a preference. In Florida they are legion - everyone has them and, they are big, and they are the only way to beat the bugs. Just wondering since we will be moving to Charleston end of April/start of May -- just when the bugs go buggy!

Personal taste I guess. I don't know of any specific restrictions to them. The lack of them in the area could have to do with the amount of windstorms we get, or the fact that the bugs here aren't as vicious as the bugs in Florida.
