Movers in Charleston area?
Hello all,
Does anyone know of any reputable movers in the Charleston or John's Island area? We will be moving to town next week and will need the manual labor aspect for the really heavy items only, i.e. bedroom suites, large TV, etc. We will get the truck loaded here and drive it down ourselves. Any ideas? Or even an average cost/hour rate?
Thanks!

I've always used Apartment Movers. Big ad in the yellow pages. Nice people. Not sure how it works if you have your own truck. I've always had them do the move, by the piece.

Is there anywhere in town where you can employ some undocumented migrant workers? In Texas, there's always at least 10 of them standing out front of every Home Depot looking for a day job. Everyone knows if you have any serious yard work or heavy lifting to do, you go to Home Depot.

Not sure about the cost, but some family members in the area just used 'Affordable Movers' and seemed happy with it. I honestly think they just picked out the company because it sounded cheap and was in the phone book, but I don't know how their actual price compared. They seemed happy with the process though.

I have been happy with 2 men & a truck. Don't know if they help in your situation, but I thought I would mention it.

The couple that purchased our last home used 2 Men and a truck and were happy with them. I see their trucks everywhere so I'm guessing many people are using them.

MUCH CHEAPER alternative - when I moved I rented a truck at Budget, I asked the guy if anyone was around for $10/hour to help me, and immediately two guys jumped out and they were there first thing in the morning for me and it worked out GREAT! There is also a service I used once for day labororers at $12/hour - I can't remember the name but let me know if you still need it and I'll research it..
