I'm looking for someone who is not a financial adviser but just has a real interest in investing as a hobby.

I'm wanting to take my vanguard funds and learn how to calculate their monthly returns in Excel. If anyone here has that skill and doesn't mind spending a few hours helping me out I would be grateful. I'm expecting we'll use something like XIRR formulas in Excel.

You get zero actionable information from tracking monthly returns.

So, are you just really, really bored? Vanguard funds are essentially index funds. They are not designed to "beat" anything. If a Vanguard fund beats the applicable index they get upset and set out to rein it in.

mckee16, not bored at all. I just have some different investments and would like to learn to track the returns on a month by month basis. It's cool if you don't know how to do it or won't help. Have a great day.

You could probably get that information from a number of financial advisers in town. Just pretend that you're interested in investing with them, ask them how you'd track it month to month and then be on your way.

Personally I think having an adviser as a friend/contact is always a good person to have in my phone pool.

Thanks for the reply. I have an Excel spreadsheet of exported data from my account that I want to have the formulas created into so I think it would be a little odd if I showed up at a financial advisor service with my laptop asking them to do the calculations for me
