We are from Washington currently living in San Antonio. My DH is temporarily working in Charleston for the next 90 to 180 days. I've never been to South Carolina but was thinking of joining him and renting a furnished home with a pool in Summerville from June to August. What can I expect for weather? Is it really as humid as I've heard?

Yes. It's very very humid here. You will feel it, that's for sure. With that said, people still go outside and we survive. August is the worst month.

Thanks for the response, I'm surprised no one else has anything to add. Is it because yet another transplant is looking at Summerville, or is the humidity so bad your afraid to be honest about it?

Renting a home with a pool during those months is a great idea! During those months the temps can range from the upper 80's to 100, sometimes higher, but once you add in the humidity the heat index can go from 100-115 degrees during the hottest part of the day.

I just hope this August isn't like it was last August. I've lived here all of my life and it was even hard for me to stand. lol

It is HOT here. I was in the last trimester of my pregnancy last summer and it was so bad I barely went outside. I even had to start working from home b/c I would swell up on my drive to work!

It is very hot & humid here, but you just get used to it. Most people I know try to stay near water or inside during July & August. Prepare for many bad hair days! Charleston is worth it though!

Default Ack!!!

noplace ~ Girl, we NEED to get together!!! I can tell you about our family's little 5 month trip out to Summerville (paid on the company dime, too! ) and you can tell me about your 7 week trip last summer! Deal???

Seriously, compared to where we both are now, Summerville is way more humid, and the heat seems a little more intense. Having a pool will help. But it's brutal. I was so glad to get outta there!

i find this question kinda funny because you say you are in San Antonio and you were wondering about Summerville's summers? i honestly don't think it would be anything different from Texas heat and humidity. i spent some time in Houston one summer in July and believe me it's honestly not any different than our weather, maybe just a tad more humid here, but then again, maybe not as it was awful humid in Houston. but i love it here and wouldn't trade it for the world. yes there are some times i wish it would be a lot more overcast and the hot sun would behave itself some days, (but be careful what you wish for) but hey if your getting a swimming pool than you've got it made! nothing worse than going swimming when it's too cold to go and you shiver, i love swimming, so i would love it if you invited me lol and remember humidity is good for your skin
