Beth,

Typical big bank! Wanting to hold checks. Was it a cashiers check that you were trying to deposit? There are big scams on the internet right now using fake cashiers checks. I had a quite large cashiers check I had issued from my bank from where I was moving from. I did take it to First Federal and they wanted to put a hold on it. Once I told them that it was from my old bank they called to verify the check and deposited it immediately. They are a smaller bank and easier to work with. Glad you chose them

I've heard about the fake cashier check scam... I would understand the hold if it was one.
No, it was a check from a well-known bank. Thanks for the First Federal recommendation!

Update: First Federal & Wachovia branches are closed on Saturdays. (I thought all banks were open for a few hours Saturday a.m.) Just updating my findings here in case others are looking for the same thing!

Thanks! (they're not answering their phone and no message on, so assumed they weren't open). I'll keep trying. (I just talked to Wachovia's main # and only the Johnnie Dodds Blvd is open on Saturday).

UPDATE: First Federal it is! They're open 10-6 on Saturdays (WOW) - - confirmed they don't put the hold times on checks like Bk of Amer does... very friendly. Thanks again for the recommendation!
