Hello,
I'm considering moving to either Folly Beach or Isle of Palms and want to know which area you prefer. I'm 42. Used to surf. Not looking for the party scene but don't want retirement community either. How's the traffic? Commute to Charleston? Surfing? Swimming in ocean? Decent rentals as close to beach as possible? Bike paths to get you off the island? I've heard that Folly is a little too run down, but I don't know.
Thanks for any answers!

Folly Beach is the beach that we prefer. It is not run down at all, it is just much more laid back and isn't "yuppified", as IOP or SI is.

No matter where you are in the area in the summer months the traffic is not easy. But, even on the 4th of July it was easier to navigate FB then Mt. P traffic.

From what I understand there are more rentals in SI than FB. But the entire area is lovely and we can't wait to get there!

Default Thanks

Thanks for your help. I'm flying out this weekend and am excited to drive around and get to know both areas a little better.
