hey all -

about 10 of us or so (m20's) are looking to rent an oceanfront home in september in either nc or sc. i was wondering if anyone would recommend a particular area or areas that might be best. i live in charlotte, but everyone else would be flying in. i'm pretty familiar with everything north of manteo, nc, which happens to be the spots that are farthest from me.

don't want anything too commercialized or too packed and would like to just hang out, maybe try and surf/kayak/parasail/whatever. any spots better than others?

also, i'm pretty sure you can only rent on a weekly basis...anyone know of ways to just rent for 3-5 days?

thank ya

Try IOP also. I know a few companies that do vacation rentals, DM me if you want the names.

Hey - a great beach for mid-20s around Charleston is Folly Beach. They have all different kinds of places to rent - from the beach shack to a condo to a gorgeous house on the ocean. 'The Washout' at Folly Beach is one of the top surf spots on the East Coast, and you can kayak and parasail on the Intracoastal Waterway/Folly River. I've done both several times and it is GORGEOUS. Plus, Folly Beach is a real laid back beach community with restaurants, bars and shops and is only 15 minutes from downtown. For rentals try Charleston SC Real Estate - Folly Beach Vacation Rentals. Another beach option would be Isle of Palms. I don't think they allow short-term rentals on Sullivan's Island, and Kiawah is about 45 minutes from downtown Charleston - though it is beautiful. September is still peak season so it will be difficult to get anything for less than a week. Let me know if you have anymore questions! If you decide to come here, I am happy to hook you up with a great kayak company.

Vacation Rentals By Owner....great site. We've used it a few times for house rentals in Hawaii. Each property is run independently, so length of stay varries from rental to rental. Some require a minimum 3 day stay. Each listing has details and pictures. Folly beach is nice.

YEah I think Folly Beach would be more fun for 20 year olds. But it is all good.
