I'm looking to move into the Charlston area , but know little about the area. My business relys heavily on word of mouth and helps if in a town where the people are connected. Do you find the people to be open and relationship minded? Currently living in Colorado and find the residents to be friendly on the surface, but stay to themselves. Thanks for the thoughts.

IMO...you will not find a nicer people than those in the Charleston area. After all, it IS the nicest city in America.

Are they open you ask? Well, I think it is important to remember that Charleston is in the heart of the South but there are different cultures there and lifestyles. The question you may should be asking is the group are looking to target in that area.

What is your business?

I guess it goes beyond business. The core of my question is based on relationship of the residents. We find here that most people don't know their neighbor or have any extended family here, which in turn results in difficulty in broadening your business/reputation other than mass marketing. This may sound strange to those who have not experienced the Colorado scene, but does make for problems in gaining establishment both socially and professionally. Do you find Charleston to be big box/chain style or more personalized when it comes to retail shopping. Thanks for your insight.

I think you will find a bit of both in Charleston. While I personally am not a huge fan of big box shopping, it has become the norm today and as sad as it is makes many items affordable.

As far as the relationship of residents, I really can't comment on that as we don't live there. I can share this with you. Having visited there and experiencing the fine people, we are seeking employment there and hope to one day be residents.
