Hello everyone,
My husband and I are considering moving to Charleston,WV. I am alittle nervous and have a few questions/concerns that hopefully the locals can help me out with.
Just to give you a quick background. I grew up in Virginia, lived there for about 25 years. For the last 13 years, we have lived in Boise Idaho (LOVED) and are currently living in Colorado (HATE). We are not use to the humidity anymore or the "bugs". We have been spoiled with dry air with big blue sunny skys!!! We are in our mid to late 40's, and I also have pet bunnies, some are indoors and some are outdoors.
Here are my concerns:
1) Mosquitoes - are they bad??? Are there areas better for "bugs" than others? REALLY concerned about my bunnies.
2) Weather - How much snow does Charleston ususally get?? What about rain?
3) I noticed after doing some research, Charleston is below the natural US average for "sunny days"......is it like Seattle there???
4) Is the humidity as bad as Virginia???
5) Where are the locations to move, middle class nice neighborhoods. My husband will be working in Charleston, but we do NOT want to deal with traffic or live "in" the city, close enough however to enjoy the ammendities!
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!!!!
Thank You
Brenda

Hi there,
1) No, I never notice them. More bugs the further from the city you go.
2) Gets a good share, but pale in comparison to higher altitudes in WV. It rains, but not more than anywhere else.
3) Nothing like Seattle, was another sunny day today!
4) not much difference
5) Pinch (5 mins north of downtown) is a good small community with alot going on. South Charleston and ST Albans are also good. Within the city, Kanawha City is a great place. The only really bad traffic areas are along Corridor G (US 119) and I-64 between downtown and Teays Valley.
hope this helps, need any more information please ask
Thanks so much for the feedback!!! We are flying out there on Saturday to look around...when we return, I just might have a few more
Great, flying into Yeager airport?
