Sonoma (Uptown) is pretty good too.

Lulu is on my list to go as I've heard that is good (Central Ave.),

That may be, there is/was a Zink on Tryon in Uptown, across from Ri Ra - perhaps that one is closed?

I've heard good things about Lulu on Central, also, but haven't been there.

Are you sure about that? I don't recall going there. But, then again, I'm also getting old and I drink

Edited to add: yes we were there. The Mrs. just reminded me of that.

That's it - it's the one Uptown that closed - thanks!

NoDa is great!! A personal favorite area! The Dolce Vita wine bar is great! Not sure anything else in NoDa is "dress up."

I would also recommend Miro in Ballantyne.

Mez in the EpiCentre is very nice, and Amelies near NoDa is a cool place to get dessert.

Mez: MEZ | eat. stay. play.
Amelies: Charlotte NC :: Amelie's French Bakery :: Amelie's French Bakery and Cafe

BTW, if you want to get a trendy outfit for your b-day date (happy early b-day!) I'd suggest going to Boris and Natasha (also in Plaza Midwood).

Been around for a while, but just had a tremendous dinner at Mimosa Grill uptown. Were there on a slow night, and asked the kitchen to do a tasting menu, and they were happy to comply. Awesome...
