Seriously though- they always used to roost at the farm up near Mallard Head Golf course, but for the last few weeks we have noticed them here ,mainly at night and when weather is about to take a turn for the worse.

They favor the Pine trees-I guess for the shelter and tonight they're out back and front.

Around 40 or more in total and they are pooing all over the picnic bench at the front and we have our house on the market too, plus I don't like the big bu----s hanging around

Firecrackers,where can I get them?
Any other suggestions please?
Dang, you're in Charlotte, get on I-85 South and go across the border into Sub Carolina, there will be a fireworks place within 5 miles, look for the signs.

this thread reminded me of our old buzzard Henry.

When I was still a little boy my grandparents owned a big ole' house on Rozzelles Ferry Road with a lot of land (the old house still stands as an NCDOT office at the corner of Rozzelles and Valleydale). My grandfather raised livestock and a few cash crops as well as a large family garden. On the back half of his property was a small two bedroom house that I think everyone in the family lived in at some point or another... And in the late 70's a family friend (Herman) was living in the house with his new wife until he could save up enough money for a down payment on his own place.

Herman was helping my grandfather tend the livestock one day when they happened along an injured buzzard fledgling limping along through the lower pasture. Herman, being a kind-hearted man, took pity on the chick and scooped it up with a pledge to nurse it back to health. And he did just that. The unfortunate side effect was the buzzard, whom he named Henry, thought Herman was his mother. And every time Herman got home from somewhere that ole' buzzard would swoop in from a tall tree top and hobble up to Herman like a lovesick puppy. As a young boy I was *quite* impressed with both Henry and Herman.

At some point Henry the buzzard figured out the best place to keep an eye out for Herman's approaching car was the tip top of my grandparents tall house, much to the chagrin of my grandmother. From there he could see the road and both houses, so he would always be ready to greet Herman as he pulled up. Henry liked the perch so much that he started hanging out there on the tip top of the eave nearly all the time when he wasn't out scavenging... and he didn't have to scavenge too much because Herman kept him well fed. As you may imagine, my traditional baptist grandmother didn't like Henry one bit. She hosted a wednesday night bridge game and it embarassed her to no end having Henry perched up on the roof, eyeing each little blue-haired lady suspiciously as they ambled slowly down the long gravel driveway in their dark Buicks and Oldsmobiles and walked up to the front door.

I remember her putting up quite a fuss about Henry. She wanted grandpa to shoot the bird, but he was too soft to do that to Herman. Herman only stayed another year after that summer, but Henry stuck around a little longer. I think it was a couple years before Henry left for good, and we used to talk about Henry eyeballing those old ladies at Grandma's bridge club social and have some long laughs... My grandmother would always look up from her book and say "Henry!?! I HATED that ole' buzzard"!

To this day I think I look at buzzards a little differently than most. Even though ole' Henry looked big and nasty, he was quite affectionate and loyal. My grandparents had to sell the house when they started getting too old to navigate the stairway. My grandfather was a very cautious man. But everytime I pass that place I can still picture Henry sitting on the roof, looking over my dad's car as we pulled in the driveway. I still remember asking my grandfather when Herman would get back so I could see him feed that dirty old buzzard. That dirty old, beautiful buzzard...
