Hopefully this won't be viewed as spam, as I don't work for the Checkers. Just passing along that $10 discount seats are available for games on 2/26, 3/8, 3/12, 3/22 & 3/27. Promo code for online Ticketmaster is "caniac". Go Checkers! Enjoy!

How are the Checkers now that they've moved up to the AHL? I saw them a few years back (ECHL, I think they were), and I wasn't that impressed with the quality of play.

I'm originally from Detroit, so maybe I got spoiled from watching the Red Wings growing up. Hope someone can let me know how the on-ice product compares to the NHL these days.

A much better level of play (btw - its a whole new team this year - these guys were the Albany River Rats until last season). This team is one level below the NHL - if they get called up, its to the Hurricanes. And a fair number of players on the other teams are moving up and down between the AHL and NHL.

My wife and I have caught a couple games this season and have had a great time. The level of play is much better compared to last season IMO. I'm a Pens fan, and if you know anything about hockey or follow....our whole team is currently an AHL roster due to injuries. I enjoy watching the young guys playing and following them into the NHL personally. Thanks for the info Caniac. We'll be in attendance!

I'm also a Wings fan and yes, we are spoiled.

Don't get your hopes up, they are nothing at all like the Wings - many more missed passes, bad shots on goal, etc.

But I love going to the games, it is a good time. The Checkers definitely offer a good, affordable night out. Just don't expect NHL quality except for a few players.

I went to two games aginst Albany a week or so ago - the first game was a lot of fun, but the third game was atrocious. I am going to the Hartford game tonight.

I was planning on taking the family this Saturday, never been to one of their games. What's everyone's opinion on seating options?

They do play at Time-Warner and no longer at Bojangels, correct?

I made a very similar post last year about big discounts on Bobcats tickets, and the moderator deleted my post as spam. Frankly, I don't get it.

Yes, Time Warner. Not sure about seats, I sit in a suite.
You can either take the train there, or park nearby. There are plenty of $5 lots - don't pay $10!
