Hi everyone,

I will be moving to Charlotte from Western NY this August and I am looking for a suitable apartment in which to live as I complete my MA at UNCC.

-I will be living with my boyfriend, and as we are both financially limited, we need a place that will cost no more than $400 per month per person (so $800 total,) although less is obviously better.
-We do not wish to live with roommates, and we do not mind a small-ish place as long as we will not be too cramped. We'd would be fine with a studio, although a 1-bedroom would be ideal.
-I am very, very noise sensitive, so I need somewhere that is not above or below a bar/nightclub/etc. I live above a bar right now, and I CANNOT stand it. Normal sounds of the city are totally fine.
-I would like to live somewhere that does not allow pets or has very strict property management. I have no patience for inconsiderate pet owners and if I lose sleep over barking dogs, I will go postal. Also, I'm very allergic.
-Oddly, however, I do not mind the sounds of kids (I love them!!) so a family-friendly complex would be fine.
-Preferably, I would like to live within walking distance of campus. By walking distance, I mean 25 minutes or less walking time.
-I loathe the smell of cigarette smoke, so I cannot live anywhere where tenants are allowed to smoke where the smell will waft into others' apartments.

Given these parameters, can anyone recommend a good place to live? I realize that this post make me seem totally lame, but I'm really cool, I swear!

Thanks in advance for recommendations.

Your problem is the walking to school idea. ALL of the places like that already have lots of students living there and with that will come the noise etc that you cant not deal with? sign me "been there and done that"

Thornberry or Berkeley Place Apartments on Mallard church creek road should be a good fit.
