Good information as usual from you! Tried to rep you but couldn't. Thanks.

if you're in the field and think you've been exposed to poison ivy, just slice the stem of the jewelweed and rub the juice over the affected area. in many cases it will prevent a reaction altogether.
it is also a good poultice or salve.
if you're at home and exposed to pi, just wash the exposed area with soap and water. contrary to popular belief pi can't be spread by touching a blistered or oozing area. pi is only spread by the oil from the plant, one's body does not produce urushiol!
Bumping this old thread as I have been exposed to poison ivy. Worst part is I'm a novice in the yard and can't 100% identify the poison ivy.
Just placed my Tecnu order at amazon.com so I should have some help by Wednesday. I'm now paranoid to go back into the yard and fearful my dogs will get some.

From what I've read, dogs rarely get poison ivy...something about the fur keeping the ivy from contacting their skin.
Poisin Ivy...remember the day well...the teenage girl next door had bad case of poison ivy on the back of her legs. No one could figure out how that could have occurred. Then, the boyfriend showed up in shorts with legs (front) afire with the stuff.
I was a wee lad then, probably 5 or 6, but I still remember the commotion, and the whispering after the fact.
Needless to say, I have always been very careful and really respect that stuff.
I am always in the yard doing landscaping, etc. My yard is fenced and beyond it on one side it has a green belt with a bog. For the first time in my live I got poison ivy, and in any event, I am told that ivy, oak and the other one is pretty popular down here. I must have touch a part of my arm with the gloves.
Oh man, I am so sorry to read that. WHAT did you DO?
I guess that makes you 'armless -- sorry
