depends on where you are going, all buses head downtown, lack of circular buses on the outskirts, for instance I am approx 5 miles from the nearest bustop and I live in Charlotte.

The bus system is pretty ok clean and safer than some other metro area buses I have been on. Most of charlotte buses are in route from the transportation center uptown to their destination point.

Certain routes run more frequent than others and some run later than others. I usually can set my watch to them due they generally are on time or within 5 minutes.

Ideal situation is to work and live on same route. Or you can expect sometimes feels like a long commute time. For instance you get to bus stop 5 minutes early have a 30 minute bus ride to uptown 15 minute layover to the next bus and another 30 minute bus ride.

Express bus is the deal if you catch those for straight shot without all the stopping plus they have reclining cushion seats and foot rests.

To answer your question it is yes all Mecklenburg cities has the CATS bus service. Here is there website C.A.T.S. (http://www.charmeck.org/Departments/cats/home.htm?header=www%2eridetransit%2eorg - broken link)

as previous poster mention you can live some what a distance but most of the buses do have bicycle racks so you can bike to the bus stop and place the bike on the rack.

that is located in south Charlotte it would be ideal to live in South Charlotte or uptown for less commute time ideally off the bus 24 route or bus 12 route both routes serve near where he will be working.

In future light rail will be available near that location. bus 24 route CATS Bus Schedules

bus 12 route CATS Bus Schedules

I'm just old mom, helping where I can.. I have time on my hands to do the research, while they work.He is engaged and his lady works in Statesville, so they are trying to find somewhere in between now, I quess like Huntersville, so they can have an equal commute. Is there any buses that far that bring you to South Charlotte?
Thanks...

Yes he will need to take the express bus 77x (it runs 6 or 7 days) to uptown transportation system and take 24 or 12 (make sure he asks the bus driver for a free transfer).

Also 48x runs from the gateway center in huntersville to transportation center but it only during rush hour commute times.

There is also local buses in huntersville and other areas that can take him to the express bus route bus stop.

Only draw back is commute time 5 minute before bus of local bus probably a 20 to 30 minute ride to express stop , 15 minute possible layover, express bus around 30 minutes another 15 minute layover at transportation center then another 30 minute bus ride on 12 or 24. Im just giving you a heads up what to expect.
