I need to go file to change my name. Is the office off Albermarle Rd the only one in Charlotte? Are there any closer to Uptown or Huntersville? I looked on there website, but only see the one listed. Thanks!

We went all the way to Statesville, from Huntersville. Have you already legally changed your name and have full documentation? I am just suggesting that you know what you need and have everything you need before you go so you don't waste a trip.

That depends on why you are changing it. If you are changing it because you "want to" you have to go through a lot more before you can change it. If you are changing it due to marriage you get married first and take a certified copy of the certificate to Social Security office.

If you are changing it for non marriage or divorce reasons you have to post a notice at the courthouse for 10 days. You can go down to 832 E. 5th St. to see how others have done it but I'd write down the lawyer's names and use an attorney for this. You don't want to screw it up.

But if for marriage or divorce, either get married or divorced and then go to the SS office with certified proof.
