It wouldn't hurt to call these guys: La-Tea-Da's Catering

They rent the industrial kitchen and office space from St. Peter's Episcopal so they might have some advise for that space or others.

My gf was actually talking about them. I will definitely look at them. We will more than likely have the ceremony at my church and just need a venue for the reception. My budget is for a maximum of $10k.

Start with the Gastonia Conference Center. It's brand new & a lovely building. If it's not during the DNC they would probably work with you.

Call Nick's Steak & Taphouse Prime Rib Seafood BBQ Bar Gastonia | Nick's Steak & Taphouse & Battleground Steakhouse & Bar Steaks, Seafood, Prime Rib, Barbecue restaurant, Bar, Draft Beer | Kings Mountain to see if either would rent you the restaurant.

Big E's BBQ does catering & might be able to suggest a facility. Big E's BBQ Kings Mtn. NC, pulled pork barbecue Shelby NC, Restaurants in Kings Mountain N.C., Find a restaurant in Gastonia North Carolina, Bar-B-Que Gaffney South Carolina, Southern BBQ, Find a caterer Cleveland County, Special Events Catering Gast

An outdoor option might be Patriot's Park in Kings Mountain. Check with the city. Also check with them about tent rentals.

I promise you that Big E's & Battleground Steakhouse will impress your Philadelphia visitors. Battleground & Nick's are LaVecchia restaurants.

Once you get a location & food figured out, you have your budget for the rest.

A good bet for an inexpensive reception is a restaurant, rather than a private place that rents out for banquest/special events. Then you won't get charged for every plate, glass, fork, spoon, etc.

My fiance and I thought about Pewter Rose, located on South Blvd near East Blvd. It's a very pretty restaurant (wouldn't need much in terms of decoration), they will close the entire restaurant for private parties, and their rates are reasonable. There might even be room for dancing/DJ. Maybe worth checking out.

Thanks for the suggestions. We've skimmed down to 150 guests and want to keep everything below $7k. If the reception were at a restaurant, would that be possible?

It would depend on the restaurant.

IF you are on a budget, scrap the wedding planner first. I would say a billion plus weddings have come off without a planner. Yours can, too.

I'm definitely scrapping the wedding planner. Lol. Although the stress they alleviate is probably worth it.

I am going to give you news you probably dont want to hear but no, you can not do a wedding for 150 people for $7k. Not at a venue, not at a restuarant, btu maybe in someone's backyard. Catering food will be almost $5k just for the food. That's not icluding liquor if you were going to have drinks. That doesnt include her dress, dress alterations, tux rental, hair/makeup, decorations, boquets, centerpieces, weddings bands, guest book, flower girl basket, favors, etc. I am in the same boat.
