Does anyone know where you can get bubble tea in Charlotte (particularly South Charlotte?) Thanks.

OK, I'll admit, I'd never heard of bubble tea. I did a Google search (yes, Kmway, Google is my friend). Looks like bubble tea is a Taiwan tea with tapioca balls in it. Big ones (think gumballs), that you slurp through a great big old straw. Hmmm... sounds intriguing (and a little gross).

My guess is, if it has arrived in Charlotte, you would find it in a coffee or smoothie shop. Can anyone help this poster find him some bubble tea? Hey, nyxmike, where did you find it before?

I had my first Bubble Tea in Kentucky over Labor Day weekend. Sorry I can't answer the OP's question regarding where to find it... but mine was really delicious. Too many options though, but somehow I stumbled upon a fantasic combo: black tea, with lemon flavor, strawberry flavor, done in the slushee/icee fashion, and the "bubble" was pineapple. (Literally, pieces of the fruit.) It was naturally sweet, and not sickening like you would expect. All in all, super refreshing on a hot day, and I had to share mine with everybody. :/

EDIT: I found it in a downtown Coffeeshop.

I was wondering the same as everybody else until someone explained.
Here in Ca it is called "Bobba"
People will drink anything here as long as it has "green tea' or some other antioxidant in it, but it still sounds gross to me too but interesting none the less.

Yeah, that is what I know it to be called as well.

I haven't seen it in Charlotte yet.

It actually is good.

Default Found your bubble tea!

I had never heard of it before either. A friend & I were shopping at Northlake Mall and saw it advertised at a kiosk selling smoothies & such. My friend, who likes green tea, got a peach flavored bubble tea, but wasn't very impressed.
Personally, any drink that appears to have rabbit pellets at the bottom of the glass doesn't really appeal to me. I'll take regular tea, thank you.

I remember a drink like that back in the mid to late 90's. It was called Orbit, or something like that. The little balls in it were different colors and the drink was different flavors. I haven't seen it since then, though. Maybe it wasn't all that popular.

I can't help you regarding Charlotte. If you are ever over in the Raleigh-Durham area, Lime and Basil has bubble tea. They are on Franklin Street near UNC-Chapel Hill. Good luck finding some in Charlotte.
