I'm still failing to see why this is something we need to be paying for right now. In the future, when things turn for the better, sure. More presence in troubled communities will lead to less crime and more arrests. Just because you know there was a gunshot, and where, does not mean you are going to catch the person who did it. Personally, if I was a crook, I'd be getting the heck out of there if I just fired off a couple of shots. I'm going to not be a fan unless they can show some real-world examples of this equipment leading to arrests that otherwise would not have happened.

Indeed. It's a very valid question in a city where the Police Chief continues to insist that crime is falling under his watch.

When things get better?

If it is accurate within 10 feet that's a huge advantage and it will cut down response time.

The problem I have is that after we spend a lot of money and put in place this highly advanced technology, the bad guys will install silencers on their guns.

I think it would be good for charlotte. even rocky mount, nc has it Rocky Mount using sensors to trace gunshots :: WRAL.com
