I have 3 rentals and a personal residence. The rentals came out a bit high, but I didn't want to spend time squabbling over two of them that I had thoroughly renovated. I did appeal one of them that I'd done less with (I pointed out that the HVAC was umpteen years old), and the review board agreed with my suggested value.

They bumped my residence up, but is still about 20K less than it would really sell for.

In all I figured it was a wash, so I didn't get too upset about the reval process.

Cool! Come to the Cornelius meeting. I'm sure they'll have to turn up the AC

Indeed, the entire Lake Norman/North Meck area was pretty upset at how this revaluation went. IMO, it didn't seem to have any reflection in reality.

The Matthews meeting last night was mostly a gripe session. All the major media should have stories on their websites and I think I was caught on camera by three different networks.

What these sessions are suppose to be for is not how to fix the 2011 Reval but how to improve things for the next one.

The independent firm hired to do this audit (some are so cynical they say they can't be independent because Meck Co. paid for it) will examine if the laws were followed etc. but mostly during these feedback sessions it's about how things can be made better.

Tonight is district 1 which has the largest number of complainers. I expect the joint to be packed.

I will post an e-mail address of where you can send feedback if you can't make a meeting.

So, should I prepare any kind of exhibit for a meeting? I've got several examples I would like to point out. I don't want to make a 20 minute presentation, but I think I can effectively communicate my point in about 3 minutes.
