Hello Everybody I was considering relocating to Charlotte from Richmond VA and wanted anybody's opinion on how did Charlotte compare to Richmond. Is it better in terms of nightlife, activities, jobs, etc? Please if anybody on here is familiar with Richmond Va please respond. It wouild be greatly appreciated.
Nightlife - Charlotte would be better except Richmond has better historic live music theaters (Byrd, etc...)
Jobs - Probably a wash right now. I think Richmond's unemployment rate is lower and it has more of a diversified economy. When Charlotte is doing well, I would say the jobs are overall better here.
Activities - Charlotte is better for sports and Richmond would be better for parks, historic areas and museums.

My best advice - stay in Richmond unless you have a job you can transfer with. The unemployment rate in Richmond is much better than in Charlotte and you may find getting a job here tough. (Richmond, 7%, Charlotte almost 12%).
Once you have the job situation figured out, Charlotte is a much larger city and does offer quite a bit more to do, though Richmond is nicely situated so close to D.C., Baltimore and Williamsburg. But for nightlife and sports right close by, you can't beat living in Charlotte. Best of luck to you!
It definitely depends on the job situation. I lived in Richmond for 2 years and was a vendor for Circuit City. Needless to say, my company laid me off right before CC went out of business. Fortunately, I got another job within 2 weeks, but they wanted me in Charlotte. I enjoyed my time in Richmond but like Charlotte better. I really enjoy sports, and Richmond even lost their minor league baseball team. Guess it depends on what you're looking for.
This thread died years ago, but I'm wondering if anyone is interested in this comparison anymore?
