I can see why folks would say these sorts of things. Just look at a political map and you can understand why many in the South feel out of step with the federal government and other states outside the South.
Not saying that secession is the answer - just saying I can understand why people would say such things.
How many Romney supporters do you think signed the petition list ?
My little league baseball coach told us that if we lose the game not to be bad sports about it.
The people voted and Obama won, the republicans need a candidate that more people can relate to,
and in 4 more years God willing they will.

I think it is more of a reflection of how much people resent the ever increasing intrusion of the government into the daily lives of people.
I believe that to be true as well , many of the Romney supporters feel that way.
In fact I feel that way sometimes about Big Brother, but to secede from the Nation ....Never
I was trying to read the links and find what the big reasons. The only thing I can see is aggressive TSA screening policies? I'm trying not to smile at this but it's hard.
I remember back in the 80s when a group in Key West wanted to secede and form the Republic of Key West. It was hard to take seriously the nation building request from a bunch of guys in Jimmy Buffet shirts.

The Conch Republic! I think there are still a few people that maintain the campaign, complete with proposed laws and and government structure.
There are actually quite a few long-standing secession movements all over America. I recently learned about the "Republic of Cascadia" in the Northwest United States/Southwest Canada. There's been an Alaskan secessionist movement for years, and of course Texas threatens to secede every few months (or so it seems.) There's also the "Second Vermont Republic" movement. There are many secessionist movements in other countries as well. Some are serious, others just a statement.
Well, that is pretty ridiculous. What happens to those that DON'T want to secede? Are we caught up in this mess? OY!!
Ani, I don't understand it AT ALL. I may have disagreed completely with Romney (and was actually quite frightened of him) but, if he won, I would have done what I had to to go through the next 4 years. Get a grip people!
