We have decided to purchase a piano. We are interested in a baby grand (we have measured and definitely have the space for it).
My questions are:
1. Are there any good/reputable piano shops in Charlotte or nearby areas?
2. For those with piano experience/expertise, what are good brands and what do you look for when shopping for a new piano? We would like something that will last for many years. It will be played by adults and our children will learn to play on it as well.
Thanks

It has been many years (40 years) since we purchased a piano and it's time for us to get it tuned. We will go to Miller's on Independence Blvd near Idlewild. They have been around a long time and from what little I know are very reputable and they will be our contact to get our piano tuned. I would talk with someone at Queens or UNC Charlotte in the music department about pianos in terms of quality and dealers. If you attend church, talk with your music director and or the person who plays piano for the church.

I've heard good things about the Piedmont Music Center at Park Rd Shopping Center. May be worth checking in to.

For a new piano: Steinway, Mason & Hamlin, Bossendorfer, Bechstein, Kawai (S-series)

Totally different discussion on brands for older grands/baby grands

In most cases, you will get a better piano by buying an upright if you cannot accommodate or afford a grand.

Absolutely bang-on with all three paragraphs, Ani.

I would add Yamaha to that list too.
