Try Tryon St after the 277 loop. Guys from JC Smith often took taxis over there looking for hookers.

Its 2013... step your hoe game up buddy. Craigslist, CL, backpage... too many options to cruise the streets looking for booty.

I'm still trying to figure out why it is illegal to give a hooker $$$$ for sex but it is ok to spend money on a date or for a Valentine's Day gift in order to keep your girl/wife happy so that she will give the guy sex. So I can't give a female money on the streets for sex but it is legal to buy a female a drink in the club, a bday gift, etc with the hopes of getting sex. What a dumb law

It's even more ironic that it is legal to film a pornographic movie (paying people to have sex on camera) but it's illegal to hire a hooker.

Legally, the difference is that porn actors are just doing their job, it's all scripted and pornography is protected under the first amendment (kinda weird, isn't it?)

but aren't hookers also doing their job? They're also acting! I doubt a crack ho enjoys blowing a filthy old perv man, but she has to pretend she does so that she can earn a couple bucks.

John: A prostitute's customer.

Prostitute: A woman who engages in sexual intercourse for money

By definition any guy who has paid for a date, bought a female a drink at the bar or bought a gift to keep his gf or wife happy is a john.

By definition if a female chooses to marry the guy that has the most money, if she will only have sex with a man if he spends a lot of money on her or if she will sleep with someone just because he has money then by definition she is a prostitute

I bet those very same people are in the very same areas or even (gasp) different parts of town just waiting to attack you as well. Not everyone who is a prostitute or pimp is looking for someone to attack. That is just a ridiculous notion and you could get car jacked at noon in front of the police station by someone who is NOT a prostitute, pimp or gang member.

You might feel safer back in Texas.

Use to see hookers strolling along Wilkinson Blvd back in the 90's. Around where the Paper Doll Lounge was (is). I don't really travel that area now so I don't know if they still do or not. Back in the 70's, the corner of Cedar St and West Trade were where hookers would strut around soliciting people. That area is now Johnson & Wales University.

If the OP is making a legit point, areas of a city with streetwalking taking place are likely to suffer many social ills. In cities I've lived, when I read of a street prostitution problem, residents would complain about finding needles, used condoms, spotting "car dates" in the alleys. These are the kinds of things that honk off residents, so if the neighborhood is still stable, they will complain until it gets media attention and embarasses the city leaders.

Speaking of which, I thought I'd read at some stage that the Charlotte city council asked the PD to enforce Wilkinson more thoroughly. They want it to be a better gateway into uptown. There have been numerous landscape/streetscape improvements along there so it isn't as sketch as it was a few decades ago.
