Science part-time internship for high school age over the summer (Charlotte: college, internships)

Anyone know a local place that might employ a high school student as a summer intern in a science area over the summer (really only June and July because of playing a fall sport)

She contacted discovery Place today and we were wondering if anyone can think of any others.

I think I could get something arranged for an unpaid internship up at the North Carolina Research Campus or at UNC Charlotte. Getting money for internships require lots of planning and is most likely too late for this year.

We had a high school intern last summer who learned some computational biology (applying computer algorithms and statistics to biological data). There are a number of wet labs where a student can get some exposure.
