Hey guys......I have been researching city-data for some time and have made the decision to come to NC next week. Looking for affordable, clean, safe extended stay hotels while looking for work, apt, etc. Thank you all for your advice. (I have read similar postings but most are from a couple years ago, I am looking for current information.) Is anyone familiar with the Value Place in Gastonia?

Gastonia is on the opposite side of Charlotte from Concord. If you are really looking for a place to stay "near Concord" then Gastonia is not where you want to be looking. Sorry i don't have any specific suggestions for you.

You'd have a variety of choices of hotels if you look around exit 49 on I-85. That's between Concord and Charlotte, near the Speedway. Also, scads of eating places and Concord Mills for an (overrated, IMO) diversion.

Extended Stay on the Speedway. I've stayed there before (for an extended period) and it was a good value in a safe (if very commercial) area.

There's an extended stay hotel in Concord at I85 exit 58, don't know anything about the inside, but from the outside it looks well kept and the neighborhood (a road between big box shopping and a shopping center) is pretty safe.

I should clarify: the extended stay I was referring to is on exit 49. (In addition to that one and the one on exit 58, there's another one closer to the Northlake area off of 77). I bet they're all fine.

My son and I stayed at Kannapolis NC Corporate Suites | Extended Stay Hotel | Affordable Corporate Suites two years ago while we were in the process of moving here. Very nice and clean. Close to Walmart and some restuarants. Is right off of I85 at Exit 60.

Hey everyone.....I am happy to say that we ended up staying at the Value Place in Greenville, on S. Pleasantburg Rd......near I85.......we spent a week there and had a wonderful experience. The check-in was smooth, the desk attendants very nice. The room was clean and well maintained. It was generally very quiet except for the occasional child running or door closing loudly. We were very comfortable and felt very safe. I would recommend to everyone.
