Hello again!

Well, we have at least narrowed down our search to north of the city when we come down next week to look. I have added some developments in West Concord to our list- in the Cox Mill Elementary school zone.

What can you tell me about that area? Safe, convenient to downtown, shopping, schools in danger of being redistricted? Those types of things. Is that area more convenient to these types of things than Mooresville? What about the airport (husband will work from home and travel). If I were to work uptown in the future, how is that commute?

Thanks again!

We live in the area and have for 7 years now. It's a great area, safe, lots of great shopping available such as Concord Mills Mall (exit 49 off I-85), also convenient to North Lake Mall, Afton Ridge and Village (exit 54). Takes me about 15 minutes to get to Birkdale Village from where I live. I like that we are convenient to things in parts of North Charlotte, Huntersville, Mooresville & Davidson. You don't need to use the highway to get to any of these areas...lots of good back roads to use instead if you prefer. Downtown Concord has some lovely old historic homes, shopping and restaurants as well.

You can get to the airport in about 30 minutes. I take I-85 but my husband likes I-485 and comes in the back way(I get a little confused that way) but its the same amount of time either way.

We are happy with the schools, our children have attended Odell ES, Harris Road MS, & Cox Mill HS. Have not heard anything about redistricting...nothing likes what is happening in Union County. I always recommend contacting CCS to double check school assignments and you can also check here: CCS School Attendance Locator

I'm not sure how the commute is to uptown personally, but most people have told me 30 - 45 minutes depending on the day/route. That may improve once the road construction on I-85 and I-485 is completed. Maybe someone who does that commute can chime in.

Hope this helps!
