Can someone tell me if the 74/19 to I-40 into Charlotte is better than going from Chattanooga to Atlanta on 75 and up to Charlotte on 85? IT SURE LOOKS STRAIGHTER and possibly more time saving even though some of these roads are state highways.
I have never taken "the back way" SO don't know if the roads are good or not and if there is more law enforcement from county to county for the better chance of getting a ticket.
Unfortunately, there is no really good straight shot between these 2 cities. I have tried several ways and always find that I-75 south to I-285 east to I-85 north is the quickest. Of course, a lot depends on what time you hit Atlanta traffic.

My sister lives there and after several different routes, the one above is the one I use.
I-75 north to Knoxville, I-40 to Asheville, I-26 to East Flat Rock, US-74 to Kings Mountain and then I-85 to Charlotte.
Far less traffic other than Knoxville and a whole lot better than dealing with Atlanta.
I agree with this
