Hey All!

I'm possibly moving to Charlotte from the midwest and was interested in a few things.

1. How bad would a commute be from Uptown to 77/billy-graham pkwy area be, if commuting during peak traffic hours?
2. What apartments/condos for rent would be affordable in Uptown for a single male, 28, making 80k? (no school loans, have car loan and insurance totaling about 600/mo)
2a. What apartments/condos for rent would be recommended?

any other input is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Hello and good luck on your potential move!

1. Your commute would be 15 minutes. Some days it could be 10, some could be 20. The commute to 77/Billy Graham from Uptown is not an issue

2. Honestly, it depends on what you want to pay. You will have tons of options.

2a. There are so many new places going up that I have lost track. Others will be able to give you a better idea, but I know of at least 2-3 apartment buildings in various stages of construction currently, along with everything already around. I think it depends on exactly where you want to be and what are your interests. You could get a place in South End and probably pay a little less in rent, but have a 5 minute train ride to Uptown.

thanks tksuther.

little more information... late 20s, single male looking to meet people.. definitely enjoy nightlife.

I'm hoping to pay 1500 or less, depending upon the specific offer amount. I would need a safe garage to store my car in and would like some luxury... 800sf is plenty of space.

The Vue is too expensive, I've been looking at uptown and southend though I have heard good things about NODA too but feel that i'd be moving away from where i am working which would result in a longer drive...

I can confirm that your commute would be 10-15 mins.

If you want to buy in Uptown or South End for less than $250K, you should easily be able to find a 1 or 2 bedroom place in the 700-1000 sq ft range that will put you below your $1500 budget (just keep an eye on the COA/HOA fees).

Uptown is within walking distance of bars, restaurants, movies, Basketball, football, and baseball stadiums, etc...if you are looking for nightlife, it's a good place to be.
